The story revolves around the ongoing struggle between the indigenous peoples of the Brazilian rainforest and those trying to burn down the forest to create more farmland. Most of the documentary takes place at a pivotal moment in Brazil: the election of right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro, which has expressed staunch hostility to the idea of protecting the indigenous people who call the rainforest their home. We met members of the Uru-eu-wau-wau includes Bitaté, a young leader who must find a way to protect his people and lands from constant destruction. We met with environmental activists fighting to protect the rainforest at their own risk. We also met those who tried to clear the land by burning the rainforest and their reasons for doing so.
