The story of Orion (Jacob Tremblay) is a typical 11-year-old who is afraid of everything. He is a loner who has no friends following a nightmare scenario involving murderous clowns. Dangerous mobile phone frequencies and clogged bathrooms which bothered him every minute of the day. The night before a class field trip to the planetarium, Orion revealed that his greatest fear was the dark. His constant screaming and hateful vitriol at the lack of light creates a nighttime entity named Dark (Paul Walter Hauser) unwilling to face his fears. His Dark eventually convinced Orion to spend the night with him as he brought night and its characteristics to the rest of the world. Doing so helped Orion realize that the Dark was not only not so scary. But sometimes facing your fears is the only way to mature
