The story opens with tensions rising when a black woman is stopped by three white police officers. After a brief argument, Latasha Crawford, a black woman, was pushed to the ground and died. This led to the black community leading protests in her name. Leading the protest was her friend and poet Micah King, and leading the community was Officer Logan Jones. Micah and Logan were on opposite sides of the same issue. But their opinions are challenged when they truly walk side by side
